A tragic incident has occurred in the Taltali Upazila of Barguna, where a 17-year-old youth, Hazrat Ali, died following a physical assault. The confrontation reportedly began after a calf wandered onto a football pitch during a local match. The accused has been identified as Mohammed Musa, the son of Abdur Rahim, the headmaster of Harinkhola Kabirajpara Government Primary School.

The altercation took place on Saturday afternoon, 25 April, at the Harinkhola Madrasa grounds. Witnesses indicate that a group of local youths, including the accused, were engaged in a football match. Simultaneously, Hazrat Ali, the son of the late Idris Khalifa, was herding cattle along an adjacent path toward his home.

The situation escalated when a young calf from Ali’s herd strayed onto the field, momentarily disrupting the game. According to local reports, Musa reacted with significant aggression. It is alleged that Musa seized the teenager and repeatedly slammed him against the concrete steps of the madrasa’s pond. The assault reportedly continued with a series of punches and kicks.

Medical Timeline and Fatality

Following the assault, local residents intervened and assisted the injured teenager in returning to his family home. However, his condition deteriorated significantly overnight. On Sunday morning, his relatives transported him to the Taltali Upazila Health Complex for emergency treatment. Official Response and Legal Proceedings

The victim’s uncle, Yunus Khalifa, reported that he travelled from Dhaka immediately upon hearing of his nephew’s critical condition to assist with the hospitalisation. The victim’s mother, Asiya Begum, has expressed profound distress over the loss of her only son.

Law enforcement authorities have commenced an investigation into the matter. Shariful Islam, the Inspector (Investigation) of Taltali Police Station, confirmed that the body has been recovered and sent to the Barguna hospital morgue for a formal post-mortem examination.

While the police have secured the body and initiated preliminary enquiries, officials noted that the bereaved family had not yet filed a formal written complaint at the time of the latest briefing. The Inspector assured that legal action would proceed promptly once a formal allegation is lodged. Currently, the authorities are awaiting the autopsy results to determine the precise cause of death and to facilitate further judicial steps.
