Bangladesh is marking the 54th anniversary of its hard-won Victory Day with grand festivities at Suhrawardy Udyan, Dhaka. Organised by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy under the guidance of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the two-day ‘Victory Festival’ pays homage to the millions of courageous soldiers whose sacrifices ensured the country’s independence. Every aspect of the festival—from music and theatre to acrobatics—is meticulously designed to reflect the spirit of struggle, resilience, and the nation’s rich cultural heritage.

Standout performances included the senior team’s ‘Jolly Siemens’, the children’s ‘Blanket Balance’, and the junior teams’ ‘Cap Dance’ and ‘Ladder Balance’, creating a magical winter evening atmosphere.
Subsequent acts showcased extraordinary skill, including Kung Fu Art, Ring Dance, Neck Iron Bar, High Cycle, Barrel Balance, Rope Cross, Roller Balance, Rope Jump, and Mouth Skill Acrobatics. The grand finale brought together performers of all ages in collaborative routines such as Hadi and Lathi, Diabo Balance, Pipe Balance, Ring Dance, Martial Art (Nunthu), and Rope Cross, illuminating Suhrawardy Udyan with cultural splendour.
Following the acrobatics, the Shilpakala Academy Repertory Jatra Unit staged the biographical play ‘General Osmani’, directed by Shamim Khandakar. The performance shed light on lesser-known yet critical episodes of the Liberation War, offering audiences both an educational and emotionally powerful experience.
Through its masterful combination of music, theatre, and daring acrobatics, the Victory Festival honours Bangladesh’s heroes and enduring cultural legacy, leaving spectators inspired and proud of the nation’s indomitable spirit.
