The pioneering rock group Warfaze will officially complete 42 years of musical operations on 6 June. Established in the 1980s, the ensemble has maintained an active presence in the South Asian heavy metal scene for more than four decades. To commemorate this anniversary, the group has confirmed the upcoming distribution of two new studio tracks alongside a solo concert in July, which will feature a dedicated tribute to the late “King of Pop”, Michael Jackson.
Warfaze has not scheduled a dedicated public festival for the day of 6 June; instead, the band is contracted to perform at a private corporate engagement in Dhaka. Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu, the long-standing band leader and drummer, noted that the alignment of the private gig with their anniversary was coincidental, stating that the musicians intend to hold an informal cake-cutting ceremony on stage to mark the date.
The group’s immediate creative output includes two distinct audio tracks slated for publication in June. The first project involves a complete musical re-arrangement of Kromosho, a track originally released in 1996 on their third studio album, Jibon Dhara. The second project is a promotional title track recorded for a domestic feature film. Due to strict confidentiality agreements enforced by the film’s production house, the definitive title and cinematic details will remain undisclosed until a formal corporate press release is issued.
On 2 July, Warfaze will perform a headline solo concert titled “Playlist: Tribute to Originals” at the China–Bangladesh Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka. The musical event is being organized by entertainment firms Brandmyth and Mars & Co., with digital ticketing managed through the online platform Get Set Rock.
The concert program will merge the band’s traditional heavy metal repertoire with 10 to 12 covers of Michael Jackson’s most famous tracks. The organizers explained that Michael Jackson’s catalog has seen a global resurgence on the music charts following the international theatrical release of his official film biopic this April. At the same time, Warfaze was recently honored with the Ekushey Padak—the country’s second-highest civilian award—for their contributions to music, making this joint celebration highly timely.
The core logistical parameters of the upcoming July concert are detailed in the table below:
