Planned 13-Day Power Cuts Announced

Authorities in Rajshahi have announced a scheduled programme of electricity supply interruptions lasting 13 days, beginning on Sunday, as part of essential infrastructure maintenance works aimed at ensuring uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha period.

According to a notice signed by Executive Engineer Md Anwar Hossain of the Northern Electricity Supply PLC (NESCO) Rajshahi office, the outage will affect multiple areas under Sales and Distribution Division-5. The planned maintenance involves the trimming of tree branches near 33 kV and 11 kV power lines, a measure intended to reduce the risk of faults and service disruptions.

The electricity supply will remain suspended daily for six hours, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, across designated localities on specified dates between 10 May and 24 May. The outages will not be continuous across all areas but will be implemented in phases according to feeder lines.

Scheduled Power Interruption Details

The notice states that the maintenance work is necessary to ensure reliable electricity supply during Eid-ul-Azha, when demand for electricity typically increases. Tree trimming near power lines is a routine preventive measure intended to minimise the risk of outages caused by vegetation interference.

NESCO Rajshahi has expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to consumers in the affected areas. The authorities have requested residents to make necessary arrangements in advance in consideration of the scheduled interruptions.

This planned maintenance programme forms part of ongoing operational efforts by the distribution authority to improve network safety and service reliability across its jurisdiction.
