Two students, identified as Rifat (20) and Sabbir (22), were killed following a motorcycle accident in the Three Hundred Feet Jolsiri area on the outskirts of the capital. Both were students at the higher secondary level and hailed from Shekherkandi village in Bancharampur upazila of Brahmanbaria district.
According to the available account, the two friends were travelling from Bancharampur to Dhaka by motorcycle when the vehicle lost control at the Three Hundred Feet Jolsiri area under Rupganj in the early hours of the afternoon. The incident resulted in both riders sustaining critical injuries at the scene.
Eyewitnesses and passers-by subsequently rescued the injured students and transported them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. They were admitted to the hospital’s One Stop Emergency Centre (OSEC) for urgent treatment. Despite medical intervention, Rifat was declared dead at approximately 5:10 pm, while Sabbir was pronounced dead at around 6:15 pm by the attending doctors.
The confirmation of the deaths was provided by Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost. He stated that the bodies of both deceased students have been kept at the hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.
The incident occurred on a stretch of road commonly referred to as the Three Hundred Feet area, which falls under the administrative jurisdiction of Rupganj. Following the accident and subsequent emergency response, the injured individuals were transported directly to one of the country’s major medical facilities in the capital.
Authorities have initiated the standard legal procedures in connection with the incident. The post-mortem examination is expected to form part of the formal investigation process, as confirmed by hospital police officials.
