Bangladeshi Woman Dies After Delhi Hotel Fire

A Bangladeshi woman who sustained severe burn injuries in a hotel fire in South Delhi has died while undergoing treatment, raising the total death toll from the incident to 23. The development was confirmed by officials on Wednesday, following her death in hospital.

According to police, the woman had been critically injured in the blaze and was receiving medical care at a hospital after the incident. Despite treatment, she succumbed to her injuries. Authorities stated that her condition had remained critical since the fire.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal said in a statement: “Unfortunately, one more person has died during treatment. With this, the total number of fatalities in the incident has risen to 23. The deceased today is a Bangladeshi national.” This official confirmation establishes the latest casualty figure linked to the fire.

The Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi has also verified the death of the Bangladeshi national. In a statement, the mission said it learned of the development on Thursday through police and hospital sources. The fire occurred on 4 June at the ‘Flourish Stage Bed and Breakfast’, a hotel located in the Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar in South Delhi. Subsequently, one of the injured victims, a Nigerian national, died in hospital last week. He had also suffered severe burn injuries in the fire. His death had brought the toll to 22 prior to the most recent fatality involving the Bangladeshi woman.
