
In a tragic turn of events in Nilphamari’s Jaldhaka Upazila, the body of 13-year-old student Mominur Rahman was recovered from a paddy field, a day after he went missing. The local police conducted the recovery operation on Saturday, 28 March, bringing the case to immediate public attention.
The body was discovered in a paddy field adjacent to the residence of local ward member Hamidul in Ward No. 3 of Kathali Union. Mominur Rahman, the son of Alamgir Hossain of Buglagari Dangapara village, was a seventh-grade student at Buglagari High School.
Local residents reported noticing a body in the field and promptly alerted the Jaldhaka Police Station. Upon receiving the information, officers reached the scene, retrieved the body, and transported it to the station for further investigation.
According to family sources, Mominur had left home on Friday afternoon with his father’s battery-operated van, heading towards Jaldhaka. He did not return home, and his whereabouts remained unknown until Saturday morning, when the distressing news of his death emerged. Family members immediately visited the site and formally identified him.
Jaldhaka Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Md. Najmul Alam, confirmed that a legal process for filing a murder case is currently underway. The body is scheduled to be sent to Nilphamari Morgue for post-mortem examination. He also stated that the incident has caused widespread shock and concern across the local community.
Local residents expressed their sorrow over the sudden loss of the young student, describing Mominur as gentle and well-mannered. The police have initiated investigations to ascertain the cause of death and to identify any suspects involved.
