Kamarul Islam, also known as “Khoka” Kamrul (47), a person identified in Jessore as a listed offender and accused in 20 separate criminal cases including murder, arms-related offences and explosives charges, has been arrested by the District Detective Branch (DB) police.

The arrested individual is the son of Abdul Aziz and resides in the Kholdanga area on the outskirts of Jessore town.

The information was formally disclosed on Sunday morning (31 May) during a press briefing held at the Jessore Police Superintendent’s office. At the briefing, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) Mirajul Islam addressed journalists and provided details regarding the arrest and the investigative background leading to it.

According to the briefing, the arrest is connected to an investigation into a case filed on 6 April under the Arms Act at Kotwali Police Station. In that case, two individuals—Khalidur Rahman Titu and Sheikh Moinuddin Ferdous—were detained earlier by law enforcement. During their interrogation, investigators reportedly obtained information indicating the involvement of Kamrul Islam in relation to the recovered arms. Following this disclosure, police initiated further efforts to locate him.

As part of the ongoing operation, Kamrul Islam was arrested on Saturday afternoon (30 May) from a rented house located in the Missionpara area of Jessore town. Police confirmed that he had been in hiding at that location prior to his detention.

Law enforcement officials stated that Kamrul Islam is allegedly associated with supplying arms and explosive materials used in various criminal activities within Jessore town and surrounding areas. He is also reportedly linked to illegal arms trading operations in the region.

Authorities further confirmed the breakdown of the cases registered against him at Kotwali Police Station, which span multiple legal categories. The total number of cases stands at 20, distributed across murder, arms, explosives, extortion, special powers legislation, and narcotics-related offences.
