In Shibaloy upazila of Manikganj, police have arrested three individuals following allegations of the gang rape of a woman aged over sixty, who is a beggar by profession, alongside the theft of a silver chain from her possession. The stolen item was later recovered by law enforcement based on information provided by the accused.

According to police and case details, the incident took place on 30 May at around midday when the victim was begging at a local market. At that time, Ashraful (26) of South Teota area and Robin, also known as Sohel Rana (27), approached her. They allegedly told her that Robin’s mother had called her home to give her something. Trusting their statement, the woman accompanied them on an autorickshaw.

The complaint states that upon reaching near Tayeb’s bamboo grove in South Teota, the two men forcibly took her into the bamboo thicket. There, they allegedly assaulted her and, under intimidation and physical force, raped her in turn. The victim also reported that she was threatened with death if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

After the incident, the victim informed her relatives. With the assistance of local residents, Ashraful and Robin were detained on Friday afternoon from the Saithghar market area. Police later arrived at the scene and took the two men into custody.
