India–New Zealand Centenary Tour Announced

A landmark centenary series between the India national cricket team and the New Zealand national cricket team is set to take place as part of celebrations marking 100 years of cricketing relations between the two nations. The extended bilateral tour has been described as one of the most comprehensive overseas engagements in modern cricket history, both in scale and duration.

The Indian squad is scheduled to arrive in New Zealand on 22 October and will remain in the country until 1 December. During this period, a total of 12 international matches will be contested across all three formats of the game, comprising five Twenty20 Internationals, five One Day Internationals, and two Test matches.

The series has been designed not only as a competitive sporting contest but also as a celebration of the historical and cultural ties shared between the two cricketing nations. Organisers have emphasised that the tour will highlight both on-field rivalry and off-field cultural exchange initiatives, reflecting the deepening relationship between the boards and their supporter bases.

The tour will begin with the shortest format. The opening T20 International is scheduled to be held in Auckland, with strong spectator interest anticipated given India’s global fanbase. The five-match T20 series will set the tone for the tour, providing early momentum and tactical experimentation for both sides.

Following the T20 leg, attention will shift to a five-match One Day International series. This phase is expected to test squad depth and adaptability, particularly in managing conditions across multiple venues.
